Forthcoming and recent engagements include Marcello in La Boheme for Malmö Opera, Jasper in Matthew Lopez’ play Arv (The Inheritance) at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm, Filippo in Rossini’s La Gazzetta for Läckö Slott Opera, and Sigisimund in Hotell Vita Hästen (Im weißen Rößl) at Folkoperan Stockholm.
Other recent appearances include the musical show Från en beundrare at Stadsteatern Stockholm, Sergeant Albert in Daniel Fjellströms opera Det går an with Malmö Opera. Guglielmo in Cosi fan Tutte at Folkoperan and Uppsala Stadsteater, Gustav III & Jupiter in Kraus’ opera Proserpin at Confidencen Rococo Theatre in Stockholm, and Pluto in Orfeus in the Underworld by Offenbach for Malmö Opera.
In the autumn of 2020 Richard was the driving force behind his World Premiere of the one-man show Klaus Nomi - the heart of an alien at The Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, which was met with great acclaim. It was broadcast on Swedish Television SVT, and it returned to the opera house in 2023 for further performances.
Richard has also performed the roles Roderisch der Weert in the operetta Der Vetter aus Dingsda and Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte for Landestheater Detmold, Jean in the play Miss Julie by August Strindberg for the Höga Kusten Festival in Sweden directed by Gunilla Röör, Pirate-Jenny in Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht’s The Beggar´s Opera at Folkoperan in Stockholm, Orlovsky in Die Fledermaus at Wermland Opera, and Marullo in Verdi’s Rigoletto at Wernigerode Schlossfestspiele in Germany.
At Vadstena Academy Richard appeared in the newly written opera The Importance of Being Earnest, by B. Tommy Andersson and William Relton, singing the roles of Lane & Merriman.
Richard studied opera at Bachelor and Masters level at the University College of Opera, Stockholm. As his graduation performance at the college he sang the title role of Eugen Onegin, and he also sang the title role in scenes from Thomas’ Hamlet at their showcase concert at Royal Swedish Opera.
During his student years Richard performed extensively. At the age of 21 he debuted in the role of Moralés in Carmen, directed by Vincent Bousuard at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, Sweden. During the same season he also appeared as Papageno in Der Zauberflöte both at Ulriksdals Court Theatre Confidencen and in Basel, Switzerland and finally as Delfa in the opera Il Giasone at Drottningholm Court Theater directed by Deda Cristina Colonna. He sang Il Conte Robinsson in Il Matrimonio Segreto at Drottningholm Court Theatre, the role Li Si in the newly written opera Son of Heaven by Moto Osada at Vadstena Academy, Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra
