Faustine De Monès will sing 3 concerts in works by the Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho this Summer - a composer who she is performing more and more often.
She first sings soprano solo in Saariaho’s Château de l’âme (1996) with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France in Paris on the 24th June. This work sets texts from the Hinduism and Ancient Egyptian traditions.
Then she moves on to the work Cinq Reflets (2001) with the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon, at the Grand Auditorium (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation) on the 15th July, 2022. This work is based on Saariaho’s opera L’amour de loin, and features soprano and baritone soloists.
Next comes Saariaho’s Die Aussicht at the Festival Musica in Strasbourg on the 17th September 2022. Die Aussicht was the first piece that Kaija wrote featuring Hölderlins late poetry, and the premiere was in 1998; on that occasion sung by soprano Donatienne Michael-Dansac with the Ensemble Europeo Antidogma.
Faustine De Monès will have her debut for Opera de Rouen in France during the 2023/2024 season. She sings at the opening gala Musiques en fête at the 2022 Choragies d’Orange as well in June.
