Biography
Forthcoming and recent appearances include Brita and Jordemor in Ture Rangström’s Kronbruden for Malmö Opera, Vetenskapen in the newly written Ålevangeliet at Folkoperan Stockholm, Andronico in Vivaldi’s Il Giustino at Drottningholm Palace Theatre, and Oxygeni in The Tale of the Great Computing Machine for KTH/Vadstena Academy.
She also recently appeared in the world premiere of the Icelandic composer Karólína Eiríksdótter’s newly written opera BLY at Piteå Kammaropera in autumn 2021.
She was educated at the University College of Opera and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm where she studied singing for Erik Årman, who she is still studying with.
Linnea made her debut in 2015 as one of the three Adelige Waisen in Christof Loy’s production of Der Rosenkavalier at the Royal Swedish Opera. At Malmö Opera she made her debut in spring 2017 portraying Der Trommler in Viktor Ullman’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis – a role she portrayed not only with her voice but also by playing the marching drum herself. In the summer of 2018 and 2020 she returned to Malmö Opera to perform the role La Feminste Atheé in Isabell Aboulker’s opera Surprises de l'Enfer.
Linnea is a sought for soloist in both standard repertoire and contemporary music and she has performed numerous world premieres. In August 2018 she performed as The Squire Jöns in the world premiere of the Brazilian composer João Mcdowell’s opera The Seventh Seal based on Ingmar Bergman’s movie with the same name. The opera premiered at the Bergman Festival in Stockholm and was later on performed in Tatuí and Ilhabela in Brazil. During 2019 Linnea performed as the only singer in the Swedish premiere of the Dutch composer Leonard Ever’s children’s opera Gold, at Teater Pero in Stockholm and later on in the world premiere of the Swedish composer Jonas Forssell’s opera Memory for Estrad Norr, where she performed one of the leading roles.
Linnea is also an acknowledged interpreter of baroque music and in the summer of 2019, she performed the role Antiope in Maria Antonia Walpurgis’ Talestri, Regina delle Amazzoni with the free opera companies Kamraterna and Den Andra Operan – one of the first performances of the opera since its world premiere in 1766. To be able to continue her studies in earlier music she was the first to receive Vännernas Opera Scholarship from the Friends of Drottningholm Slottsteater in 2018. The scholarship was awarded by his majesty Carl XVI Gustaf king of Sweden during a concert at Drottningholm Palace Theatre.
Linnea discovered opera at an early age when she visited the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm for a performance of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at four years old. After that she knew that she wanted to become an opera singer when she grew up and often entertained her peers at the kindergarten performing the Queen of the Night from her favourite climbing tree. At 8 years old Linnea formed her own amateur theatre group – an initiative that lasted until she was 16 and was a platform where she discovered her love and talent for working on the stage. Furthering her musical development, Linnea joined several choirs and pop bands in her youth until she finally decided that the right path for her was to fulfil her childhood dream to become an opera singer. She started to study classical singing in 2008.
Linnea completed her studies at the University College of Opera in Stockholm in 2017. During her time there she worked on roles such as Nancy in Britten’s Albert Herring, Sesto in La clemenza di Tito by Mozart, Rosina in Il barbieri di Siviglia by Rossini, Anna 1 in Die Sieben Todsünden by Weill and Dinah in Trouble in Tahiti by Bernstein.

Reviews
“…most brilliant is the confident mezzo-soprano Linnea Andreassen.”
"…the third act is like a chorus line where the singers one by one get to shine in delicious arias accompanied by the Danish orchestra Damkapellet under the direction of the speedy harpsichordist Marcus Mohlin - most brilliant is the confident mezzo-soprano Linnea Andreassen.”
— Loretto Villalobos, Expressen, 20 June 2019 (Amazonernas drottning, Kamraterna/Den andra operan 2019)
“...musically brilliant...”
“But most impressive is the mezzo-soprano Linnea Andreassen as Talestri's closest friend Antiope. Her performance is as musically brilliant as it is natural in the role interpretation..”
— Bodil Hasselgren, Tidsskriften OPERA Nr 4 2019 (Amazonernas drottning, Kamraterna/Den andra operan 2019)
“…a marvel of clarity…”
“The mezzo-soprano Linnea Andreassen as The Drummer is a marvel of clarity as well as a singer, a physical actor and a drummer. There could not have been a better casting.”
— Hanna Höglund, Expressen 3 April 2017 (Döden säger nej, Malmö Opera, 2017)
