Biography
Swedish lyric tenor Theodor Uggla completed his studies at the Dutch National Opera Academy in Amsterdam in the Summer of 2023.
Forthcoming and recent engagements include Lehrbube Tenor 1 in Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at Royal Danish Opera, Alberto in Rossini’s La Gazzetta at Läckö Slott Opera, The King in a new family opera, Sherlock and the Singer, for Malmö Opera’s Operaverkstaden, and Count Balduin of Zedlau in J.Strauss Wienerblut for Miniopera in Jönköping, Sweden.
At the Dutch National Opera Academy he performed Richard in Krenek's What Price Confidence (1945), Dorvil in Rossini's La Scala si Seta and Contino Belfiore in Mozart's La finta giardiniera.
Theodor previously graduated with distinction from Royal College of Music, London where he was a “Their Serene Highnesses Dr Prince Donatus and Princess Heidi von Hohenzollern” Scholar. In his native Sweden, Theodor was also one of the recipients of Anders Wall’s Confidencen Scholarship in 2019.
During the second year of studying his Bachelor in Performance at Malmö Academy of Music, the autumn of 2017, Theodor made his operatic debut at Wermland Opera where he sang the role of Nicolio in their production of Martinů’s opera The Greek Passion.
Also during his studies in Malmö he was invited to be the tenor soloist in a performance with Malmö Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, as sung parts in several sacred works, among them the Evangelist in St John’s Passion by J. S. Bach. In the summer of 2018 he was invited by the Swedish Royal Court to sing songs written by the Swedish Royal Family during the 200 year anniversary of the Swedish Royal Family in Pau (France).
Theodor regularly performs in concert and oratorio work, something he enjoys greatly, especially the works of J. S. Bach.
