Mikael Horned receives the 2021 Friends of Drottningholm Scholarship

Baritone Mikael Horned is the recipient of this year's Friends of Drottningholm Theatre's Opera Scholarship for SEK 100,000.

The board's motivation: “Mikael Horned is awarded the Friends' Opera Scholarship 2021 for his desire to develop in the baroque repertoire with the support of internationally renowned teachers. Horned is educated at the Stockholm Academy of Opera and has already come a long way in his vocal development, not least through his ability to combine good technique with strong expression.”

Mikael already participated as a student in productions at the Royal Swedish Opera and at Vadstena Academy. This summer he sings Lesbo in the new production of Handel's Agrippina at Drottningholm. More details: https://dtm.se/agrippina-eng

The scholarship will go to the improvement for young singers who have just completed an opera college education and are particularly interested in Drottningholm Theatre's 1600–1700s repertoire.

Three of the last 4 years' winners are on the Svanholm Artists roster, the other two being countertenor Rodrigo Sosa Dal Pozzo (2020) and mezzo soprano Linnea Andreassen (2018).
